Inclusive Education Teacher Training in Osogbo, Osun State

Osogbo, the capital city of Osun State, Nigeria, is home to many primary schools serving diverse learners. However, many teachers have limited access to training on inclusive education practices.

Child Wellbeing Initiative (CWI) recently conducted a teacher training on inclusive education practices at St. Michael Primary School in the Igbona Area of Osogbo, Osun State, Nigeria.

The training brought together early childhood and primary school teachers to learn practical strategies for creating inclusive classrooms that support children with diverse learning needs, including children with disabilities and learning differences.

During the session, teachers were introduced to inclusive teaching methods, classroom participation strategies, and ways to adapt learning activities so that every child can participate and succeed. The goal of the training is to help educators build learning environments where all children feel supported, valued, and able to reach their full potential.

To support the implementation of inclusive education practices, the Child Wellbeing Initiative provided learning aids and teaching resources to the school. These materials will help teachers begin applying the inclusive strategies introduced during the training.

The key message shared during the session was:

“Inclusive Education carries every child along.”

This training is part of the Child Wellbeing Initiative’s broader mission to strengthen inclusive education in Nigeria by equipping teachers with the skills and tools needed to support every learner.

Through teacher training, school outreach programs, and community engagement, CWI is working to expand access to inclusive and equitable education across Osun State and beyond.
